My Little Repunzel

Have you watched Tangled? Ok..what a silly question. It is eons ago but the movie always grows on me. The character, the song..it is so magical. I never get bored watching it, so Zahra. She loves this version of Repunzel so much and I always wanted to make Repunzel playdress for her but couldn't spare the time, until I read this tutorial from LiEr :- http://www.ikatbag.com/2013/04/wig.html

It looks easy and simple enough to do it in a short time so I decided to give it a go. I tried to find nude or yellowish fleece to make it as close as Repunzel's hair in the movie but couldn't find it..well, I found one at Kamdar but the quality is not that good, so I opt for this brownish color. It's fleece blanket from Tesco actually. Well, it's long and wide enough, so that will do.

Cut about 6 strips

combine all. Fleece won't fray so you don't have to serge it.

Snip some bang

Tadaaaaaa!!! Well, it's a bit loose as the pattern is for older age.
And she's so happy with it. Keep on twirling with the 'long' hair.

I altered it a little bit after that - just add a few cm of hem to make the cap tighter. Anyway, I made this in September 2013 and she still loving it til now. Am so so so happy I made this!

Latest pic with the wig last month. Repunzel is going shopping!

I think I should make costume dresses for her. I can always buy...but it's so exciting to make by myself. Somehow it makes me feel like a superwoman LOL. But I just couldn't fit the time, so I guess I am not a superwoman after all :-)

First Yeesang in 2014

Salmon Yeesang. Tossing to all good stuff to fill your 2014 :)

My MIL invited us for yeesang session last weekend at SouthSea Seafood Restaurant. This is our first yeesang session this year (we normally have multiple sessions) and SouthSea was always be my favourite. Well, WAS. The food wasn't like is used to be and not really satisfying. There are a few hits, but mostly miss.

But it doesn't matter really, the companion that counts right?

This year is Horse year

Zahra being cheeky. I asked her to pose and she did this.

Emir with Mommy. Kesian bawah mata dia luka..he got it at school. Biasala kids..thank God it missed the eye.

Clams in garlic and chili padi. Use to be my favourite but it was bland that night. Tak pedas langsung and rasa ginger je banyak :(

Typical chinese style vegetable, cook it plain with garlic hehehe. I find it rather funny because Malay style punya sayur so fancy and penuh cili right..lololol..but yeah, it's healthier to eat this way. Love your stomach pls!

Butter prawn. Different style than last year too. No egg floss :(

Kung Pao chicken. So-so only.

Yam basket! One of my fav!

Lotus paste pancake for dessert. It's not that sweet and the pastry is crunchy and flaky. Highly recommended!

Overall, it's an okay dinner. I forgot to check the bills, but I wonder if it's worth it because when I see the price tag at seafood display at the aquarium, the price has hiked up so much!

Anyway, we won't be able to celebrate CNY this year because I'm going back to Terengganu for a bigger event. Am going to miss the lion dance but can't wait for my baby sister getting engaged! :D

Train Ride

The first train ride for the kiddos was around early last year at Bukit Bendera, Penang (I haven't blog about this...yet! another procrastination entry) and they lovin it. Zahra loves the ride, Emir was too small that time, but now at age 3, he shows deep interest in trains, especially Thomas and Friends.

And now there is MRT construction around our area and Zahra has been asking when the train gonna be ready (her most favorite statement is "Macam dah nak siap je... Esok siap?" LOL) so we were thinking to take them for LRT ride last Tuesday.

I fed the kids siap-siap bagi kenyang tanak mengamuk haha then take the train from Kelana Jaya to KLCC after Zohor. Well..it's not really a good time because afternoon = nap time, but from my past experience, it's hard to make them take the nap because they are so excited playing, so I just try to pull the card.

So happy! Emir was looking at Zahra 'doing' the peace sign

And trying to imitate - was counting his fingers haha!

We picked end of the train and put the kids at the window for railway view

Under the tunnel, somewhere in Masjid Jamek

To be truth, I was expecting they to be very excited. Well..they were..but only for 10 minutes or so!! Gahhh KIDS! After that mula la macam bosan. Zahra siap cakap "Train kat Penang lagi best". Okaaayy!!

We stopped at KLCC station and had some light refreshment at Ben's.

Which is...not so refreshing..because the kids start to get cranky!! Kejap je duduk elok2 before they started to run, jump and want to go to the water fountain. And Emir siap mengamuk-ngamuk rolling on the floor. Sigh..that little fella. One of the Ben's staff siap tolong angkat and pujuk2 dia but he will pushing him away and bend his body *rolled eyes*. And Zahra started to ask for color pencil and paper. Okaaayyyy. I wasn't expecting this, so I didn't bring all of the stuff. Stroller pun tak bawak. It supposed to be a brief stop.

We had to make a quick bite and take turns. I hate taking turns. Memang my kids ada problem sikit duduk makan diam-diam. They don't get excited with food. I tengok anak org lain ok je..hmmm

Anyway...after finishing the food, we stopped by at the fountain like for 5 mins because Zahra insisted and I know my kids, they are very sleepy already so had to psyched them cakap taman tu panas la..ramai org hisap rokok la (which is true! And the youngsters look so rempit! Ughh definitely not a good influence to my kids) and then she agreed to get home. So we rush back home and both start to get irritable and Zahra wants ME to carry her all the way to LRT. Aduh..why mommmyyyyyy haha.

So MrComot carried Emir and I carried Zahra and the crowd was insane, well what do you expect, it's KLCC! Thank God somebody offered us seats. Thank you so much!!

Emir doze off like instantly in the train and Zahra doze off when we were few stations more to reach Kelana Jaya.

Whaaaaaaaaat a day!!!

The biggest mistake I'll say because we pick KLCC. It's 40mins journey and can be taxing to kids I guess. We should try shorter distance like Asia Jaya. Lesson learnt! Next time, don't be too ambitious mommy!

The Terrible 4

Just a little rant, today is already 10th Jan and I've pictured in my mind before that I'll start to write about wonderful things in 2014, my wishlist and whatnot. Flowers and sunshines.

But.. life is not like that. It's unpredictable and you can't have everything your way. So yeah, I started my 2014 with lots of mundane colors. The kids were unwell (they are better today, Alhamdulillah), Zahra refused to go to school and she will cry every morning saying "Zahra tanak mommy workkkkkk!!!", Emir been vomiting every day..not the serious one though, just when he cries because of the phlegm, both refused to eat (which I find very irritating and devastating at the same time). Sigh... I never imagine my first week of new year can be this challenging.

Ok...so after the stressful nights and the slapping incident, I decided to cool down and reflect myself. The kids didn't make it easier though. Zahra still crying crying crying most of the time. Not exactly crying..u know, merengek, buat bunyi aaaa..aaaa..aaaaaaa..macam menangis but not really crying. So irritating!! Every little thing tak kena. If MrComot makes her milk, she said tanak daddy buatttt..nak mommy buatttttt! Then after I buat, tanak panassss nak sejukkkk. Then after I sejukkan sikit, nak panas sikitttttttt. After dah panaskan balik she will say tak cukup tangannnn nak pegang botol susu. Haishhh u know la..it never ends.

But I grit my teeth, hold my breathe and do the slapping scenes in my head only. Not on her. I succeed so far and very proud of myself (haha! ok not funny).

Back to the main thing, I just found out that there are this condition called Terrible 4!!!! I never heard of it. I mean, terrible 2 ye la..but terrible 4 pun ada?

You’re neck deep in the 4’s.  It’s sound a bit ridiculous at first.  I mean how much grief could a pint size kid give you?  You quickly find out.  At the age of 4, children have developed enough speech skills to communicate what they want, and don’t want.
Suddenly your child, who used cry when they were unhappy and could be consoled with a hug or a time out, can talk back.  Those looks you’ve mastered are now falling onto blind eyes.  They are defiant, testing and smart! Books say that children at this age should be testing boundaries.

Full article can be found here: -http://negotiationboard.com/the-terrible-4s/

And yes, the hardest time will be when we parted at school. She will cling on my neck and refused to let go and cryyyyyyy and said "Zahra tanak mommy workkkk" repeatedly.

I reasoned, bribed, promised, threatened, semua tak jalan

Mommy have to go to work
Mommy tak payah pegi workkkk (wailing)
Kalau mommy tak work, macam mana mommy nak beli kinder surprise
Biar saja..Zahra tanak kinder supriseeeee (wailing)
Ok but we still need food to eat
Biar saja..tak payah makannnnn (wailing)
Nanti boss mommy marah
Biar saja...zahra nak duduk dengan mommyyyyy (wailing)
Ok Zahra you have option either I go nicely or I just leave u here just like that
Zahra tanak mommy pegi workkkkkkkk (wailing and pulling my dress)

Ada one time she hits me ok, because she was so disappointed. So now tell me, how am I supposed to go to work..happily :(

Anyway, the article knocked me some sense and I've been calmer ever since..no more raising voice, no more angry face, and no more hitting of course. There got some tips there. Go read it!

Ohh sometimes how I wish I just quit my job and stay at home with the kids. But..I'm not there yet. Maybe soon, 2-3 years time. Just a maybe though. Sigh..

Sigh

I was mad with my daughter because she was uncontrollable and keep on crying and slapped her last night.

I wish I didn't, but I don't know how to control this anger. And as usual, I will feel upset after that. Very upset.

Anyway, I've come to an idea! If I ever feel that way again (to slap, to hit, to get angry, etc), I will slap myself first. To wake up myself and remember, your kids don't like the mom to be a monster.

Grrr..very upset with myself now!
